100th Story Contest

(Short) Fiction Collective is proud to celebrate their 100th story! No entry fees.

Submit up to three short stories of no more than 5,000 words each. Deadline November 1, 2010. Winner announced in mid November. Winner's story is published on the site, and the author wins $100 and a few randomly selected books from the Editor's private library. All of the stories that weren't selected will be considered for publication. No science fiction, romance, obscene horror or poetry.

(Short) Fiction Collective is an online literary journal based in New York striving to publish the best fiction from new and seasoned authors around the world. When the time comes they nominate the best stories published at Fiction Collective for the Pushcart Prizes.

NOTE: Another no entry fee, people. Always a good thing. Of course that usually means the prize money is small, but $100 is worth the effort, in my opinion. We can banter back and forth about whether it's good to be offered publication and no money as a runner-up, but it's still a cherished clip in a literary publication. In some circles that matters a lot.

DOUBLE NOTE: Goal - novel first draft completed by Christmas. And on a personal note, my baby son is getting married next October. The ring is gorgeous, and he even asked her parents for the girl's hand. So sweet. We love her and her parents. And he's only moving one state away. Yes, life is good. Have a great weekend, y'all.

Congratulations on your son's wedding - you must be very proud!

Good luck with your first draft. Remember not to count the week of Christmas in your writing schedule - usually there is too much going on to write.
