Kelpies Prize for Scottish Children's Literature

KELPIES PRIZE FOR SCOTTISH CHILDREN'S LITERATURE

NO ENTRY FEE

NOTE: Open to all nationalities.

Fantastic fantasies, awesome adventures, and sensational sci-fi - the Kelpies range of Scottish children's novels publishes them all. Judges seek: "a cracking story, with strong characters and believable dialogue which children won't be able to put down." The Kelpies Prize offers winning authors a £2,000 cash prize and have their novel published in the Kelpies range. Deadline February 18, 2011. Settings should be set in Scotland. Manuscript must be 40,000 to 70,000 words.

NOTE: I love the no entry fee and the serious cash money for children's writing. Children's writing doesn't sport too many competitions outside of the SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators).

DOUBLE NOTE: Taking a new chapter to my writer's group tonight. It's fast paced, and I think they'll like it (fingers crossed).
