NOTE: Sponsored by the Friends of the Dr. Eugene Clark Library in Lockhart, Texas. When you look at the website, you want to live in Lockhart. Not only do they have this fundraiser short story contest, but they also have an annual fundraiser called "Evening With the Authors". Each year they invite local and national authors to join guests for wine, buffet and socializing—no speeches or presentations. Barnes and Noble Bookstore provides the books, and part of the proceeds go to the organization. Last year they sold overover 200 tickets and sold over $3,000 in books. The event is held in the lovely garden of Dr. Rebecca Hawener, County Judge of Caldwell County, Retired. The garden is adorned with thousands of twinkle lights at night to enhance the atmosphere of the event. Nice Friends of the Library group. In case you don't know it, but most libraries have a "friends of the library" nonprofit organization. Check them out in your area.
