Okay, not the comic book kind of flash, but it is quick. This is a competition for 500 words or less - fiction that bites!
This quarterly open-themed competition has closing dates of March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31. The results will be announced within six weeks of each closing date and the three winning entries each quarter will be published on this website. Entry fee: £5 for one story, £8 for two stories. Optional critiques: £10 per story. The competition is open to anyone over the age of 18, including non-UK entrants. Only manuscripts which are within the 500-word limit will be accepted. Entries must be in English.
Prizes will be awarded as follows:
First: £250 plus publication in Words with JAM
Second: £100
Third: £50
Highly commended: A copy of The Writer’s ABC Checklist
NOTE: Wow, another flash contest. And the pay is darn good!
DOUBLE NOTE: Ooh, just had a fantastic revelation for one of my characters. Wrote 2000 words yesterday, and for someone who writes first drafts like she's running with 50-pound weights on her ankles, that's phenomenal progress.
