Work in Alaska

GENERAL ASSIGNMENT REPORTER
Location Kodiak, AK
http://www.journalismjobs.com/Job_Listing.cfm?JobID=500287
If you are an experienced (1-2 years) news writer with an affinity for community journalism, an adventuresome spirit and the desire to live and work in a beautiful Alaska island town, this could be your job. The general assignment reporter is responsible for gathering information, tracking issues, taking photos and reporting news that affects Kodiak and Alaska. A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or experience may substitute for specific degree requirement.

NOTE: I know. I've never posted a job here before. Somebody might want to work in Alaska, and how many jobs get advertised from Alaska? My point is, if you are struggling as a freelance writer, consider working fulltime in the world of writing. Such a job is good for no other reason than health care benefits and hopefully a retirement plan of some kind. This type of work also gives you networking opportunities that reap huge rewards later in your freelance efforts. Hey, I worked 25 years then took an early retirement, just so I could have the health benefits and a monthly check coming in to supplement my writing. Sure helps you sleep easy at night.

DOUBLE NOTE: The theme of my second novel hit me yesterday. Funny, you write this book, the story is clear, then you sit down and realize you had a dang theme in it after all. LOL

Would love to live and work in Alaska. Alas, God has placed me in Costa Rica (great climate, by the way), and I have no degree in journalism. Guess I'll just have to stay here!
