You want the Good News or Bad News first?

Yes, you'll get your money opportunity today, but first you get to feel sorry for me. Today is my wedding anniversay...good thing. On the way to dinner, I picked up the mail. In it was a rejection from one of the agents who requested my manuscript. I know, I know...I'm moving on, making plans, still writing 1,000 words/day on the new novel. But still...it stings a little. Got my hopes up on that one because she'd sounded so upbeat before. My anniversary dinner conversation consisted of talking about rejection...and how not to let it get you down. So...like the good Southern girl I am...I'm writing a thank-you note to the agent...a nice one. But I intend to let her know that I'll be back...with book two and a new and improved book one...maybe with book three in the works. I don't roll over easy, but I hate rolling over rocks, you know? Okay, I've vented. Got to practice what I preach...get over it, learn from it, and keep on keepin' on.

NOW...let me thank Christina Katz of Writer Mama who selected me as a Rockin' Girl Blogger. Apparently, the deal is...a girl blogger picks five of her favorite blogs, labels them Rockin' Girl Bloggers, says why on her blog, then passes them a badge. Isn't it cute? So I'm passing mine on to:

1. Audrey Shaffer, Linda Hutchinson and Renee Barnes at WritersChatroom blog - They work so hard to bring common sense ideas and great speakers to their chats at WritersChatroom. I've worked with them for three years now. Steady as a rock.

2. Diana Burrell and Linda Formichelli at The Renegade Writer blog . I've had the priviledge of reviewing all three of their Renegade Writer books, and their blog is chocked full of advice and feedback for freelance writers.

3. Angela Hoy at her blog. This woman is a dynamo. While some think she's over the top, those same writers benefit from her efforts to keep nasty editors, publishers and agents exposed while she delivers a phenomenal newsletter and operates Booklocker publishing. She says it like it is - my favorite way of serving up the truth.

4. Jade Walker. She has a Blog of Love with recipes, stories, advice and a wide array of interesting tidbits about being in love. Then there is her Blog of Death where she discusses the celebrity death of the day. I've known her for years. When I started a newsletter, I set my sights on her...as the newsletter editor I wanted to be.

5. Jendi Reiter is a poet, and the editor of Winning Writers website and newsletter. The absolute best place to find competitions for poetry. Very comfortable blog about her poetry and her introspective views. Reiter's Block

Hi Hope. Thanks for your great newsletter. I've been getting it for years and I love the redesign. Can I throw my own blog into the running? You can find it at http://www.blogs.targetx.com/wildriverreview/sherer/. My blog is called "Diary of a Writer in Mid-Life Crisis" and it's all about the writing life--and other angst in terms of being middle-aged, a new wife, stepmother, stepgrandmother, juggler extraordinaire.

I'd love for you to check it out and maybe mention it somewhere, but only if you like it! I've been a writer for more than 20 years, have one novel (got an agent for it but he couldn't sell it to publishers...working on number two and putting the blogs into a book). Anyway, keep up the great work. I always enjoy getting your Funds for Writers and love that we can now enjoy a new and improved version. :)

All the best,
Jill Sherer Murray
